Welcome to lyricly ("lyricly", "we", "our", or "us"). This Privacy Policy explains how lyricly handles information when you use the lyricly macOS application, iOS application, and the lyricly website.

Platform Availability

Lyricly is available on both macOS and iOS.

  • On macOS, Lyricly provides desktop lyrics, menu bar lyrics, and Dynamic Notch experiences.
  • On iOS, Lyricly provides an immersive lyrics experience, Live Activities for Dynamic Island and Lock Screen, and widgets.

This Privacy Policy applies to all platforms unless otherwise stated.

Overview

lyricly displays synced lyrics for music currently playing in supported apps like Apple Music and Spotify.

Your privacy matters. lyricly is designed to collect as little data as possible.

  • We do not sell your data.
  • We do not track your music history for advertising.
  • We do not collect unnecessary personal information.
  • We do not collect or use your Advertising Identifier (IDFA), and we do not use any collected data for cross-app or cross-website tracking or advertising purposes.

Information We Collect

1. Information You Provide

If you contact us for support, we may collect:

  • Your email address
  • Your message content
  • Optional information you choose to provide, such as screenshots or device details

We only use this information to respond to your request.

2. App Usage Data

lyricly uses Firebase Analytics (provided by Google) to collect limited, privacy-friendly usage data to improve the app, such as:

  • App launches and sessions
  • Feature usage events, such as lyrics displayed, widget enabled, or trial progress
  • Paywall and subscription interaction events (e.g. plan viewed, purchase initiated, purchase completed, and anonymized purchase/revenue data such as product ID and price)
  • App version and device/OS version
  • Anonymous diagnostics

This data is not linked to your identity and is used only to improve app quality, performance, conversion experience, and reliability.

We do not collect:

  • Your Apple Music or Spotify listening history
  • Your full song library
  • Your Apple ID
  • Your personal files
  • Your messages
  • Your contacts

3. Currently Playing Metadata

To display lyrics, lyricly reads the currently playing song information from supported music apps on your device, such as Apple Music and Spotify where available, including:

  • Song title
  • Artist name
  • Album name
  • Playback timing

This information is processed locally on your device to display synced lyrics.

lyricly does not:

  • Download music
  • Record audio
  • Store your listening history
  • Redistribute copyrighted music content

4. Data Usage on iOS

On iOS, lyricly may access the following information to provide core functionality:

  • Music playback information, such as current track and playback state
  • Network resources for fetching lyrics and artwork
  • Spotify account data only if you explicitly connect your account

lyricly on iOS uses Firebase Analytics to record anonymous app usage and subscription conversion events (see "App Usage Data" above). This data is not linked to your Apple ID or personal identity.

lyricly does not sell personal user data or use it for advertising. Data is used solely to provide real-time lyrics display, improve app quality, support subscriptions, and respond to support requests as described in this Policy.

Spotify Integration

If you choose to connect your Spotify account:

  • Authorization is handled via Spotify OAuth secure login
  • lyricly only accesses playback-related data
  • No credentials are stored on our servers

You can disconnect your Spotify account at any time.

How We Use Information

We use collected information only to:

  • Display synced lyrics
  • Improve app performance
  • Fix bugs and crashes
  • Respond to support requests
  • Maintain app reliability
  • Understand feature adoption and subscription conversion in an anonymous, aggregated form

We do not use your data for advertising.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

We may share limited information only with trusted service providers that help us operate lyricly, such as:

  • Firebase Analytics (Google) for anonymous usage metrics and app performance insights
  • Hosting providers for website and support infrastructure

These providers only receive the minimum data necessary to perform their services.

Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to provide support, maintain service reliability, and comply with legal obligations. Anonymous diagnostic and usage data may be retained for product improvement.

Your Rights

Depending on your region, you may have rights to access your data, request deletion, request correction, or object to certain processing.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

lyricly is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
